So, at first, the patient watcher of earth sees only inanimate beauty, voiceless, without initiative. Then suddenly there is a clapping of wings, a flash of immortal radiance, a strange, haunting cry – and he has had a vision of the Soul of the World.

Mum
She was the one who taught me to hold a pencil in my hand. She taught me what eternal beauty means.
I went to the building at the top of the mountain to see her one last time; the day I dressed her one last time; It was just an empty cocoon…. Her beautiful and wild spirit had left her frail body. I did not cry -
I kissed her small white feet knowing too soon when invisible things are gone there is nothing left … nothing to see, nothing to show, nothing to express, nothing to paint ... only to feel and listen and know.

Beautiful Hands
They're neither white nor small;
And you, I know, would scarcely think
That they were fair at all.
I've looked on hands whose form and hue
A sculptor's dream might be,
Yet are these aged wrinkled hands
Most beautiful to me.
Such beautiful, beautiful hands!
Though heart were weary and sad
These patient hands kept toiling on
That the children might be glad.
I almost weep when looking back
To childhood's distant day!
I think how these hands rested not
When mine were at their play.
Such beautiful, beautiful hands!
They're growing feeble now,
And time and pain have left their mark
On hand, and heart and brow.
Alas! alas! the nearing time--
And the sad, sad day to me,
When 'neath the daisies, out of sight,
These hands must folded be.
But, oh! beyond the shadowy lands,
Where all is bright and fair,
I know full well these dear old hands
Will palms of victory bear;
When crystal streams, through endless years,
Flow over golden sands,
And where the old are young again,
I'll clasp my mother's hands.
...Emma M. H. Gates Revelation 13:16 - And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads.
Revelation 13:17 - And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

LOVE LOOKSNOT WITH THE EYESBUT WITH THE MIND

Do Think of Me
when the pale golden sun abhors the last twinkling star
and the first thrill of the songbird pierces a cloud marbled sky
Think of me
Think of me when the air is sweet with scent of soft morning rain
When the violets glow and the sun is bright
Think of me
Think of me
As you see the New Moon rise twinkling on the waters edge
and the frogs orchestrate their appeal for a mate
and the owl hoots his content
Do - think of me

A simple quotation
some extraordinary project,
all your thoughts break their bounds;
Your mind transcends limitations,
your consciousness expands in every direction,
and you find yourself in a new,
great and wonderful world.
Dormant forces, faculties and talents
become alive, and you discover yourself
to be a greater person by far
than you ever dreamed
yourself to be.

LOVE
Will love again;
Don't ask me why.
For I know,
We shall meet again!
At the moment life has passed me by:
Your love shall never die!
Somewhere, somehow,
you will come again - I know;
We shall meet again,
Love again,
Live again,
you and I.
Here, my love, in my heart
your magic spells,
Bound forever,I'll keep.

Life
Life is a burst of song;
A glorious symphony,
A pattern of myriad colors: Life is full of rainbows;
It's the gentle rain, pattering on your face,
The siging of the wind trough your hair;
The song of a bird in the twilight.
It is love and laughter,
a comforting hand, a kindly word.,
It's the light in his eyes and the smile on his face;
The rays of moonlight dancing n a rippling stream.
The crying of a baby,
The cooing of a dove in the crisp, morning light.
The shimmering flowers in a bowl.
The cadence of a voice;
The laughter of two young lovers,
and the warm glow of light, through a window ,
on a Winter's night.
Life can be black and dark, life can be sorrow's pain,
life can be bitter and cold;
Life is what you make it!
So don't forget to look and hear;
Don't let the glory pass you by,
for the path of life, can be dusty and dry;
So, believe in the Magic!
and you shall always have rainbows and joy!
A Mother
Is a smile, when all is lost;
A Mother,
Is a warm hand, to guide your way;
A Mother,
Is joy, when tears are near:
A Mother,
is happiness, in your sorrow;
A Mother,
Is light, in the darkest hour;
A Mother, Is Love!
Thank you, God,
For my Mother!
LIFE & DEATH
that lightly draws its breath
and feels it's life in every limb -
what can it know of death?
The Wind
Neither you nor I;
But when the leaves hang trembling,
the wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I;
But when the trees bow down there heads,
the wind, is passing by.
Think Of Me
abhors the last twinkling star,
and the first thrill of the songbird
pierces a cloud-marbled sky
think of me!
When the air is sweet with scent
of soft morning rain,
when the violets glow,
and the sun is bright,
- Do, think of me!

I AM FINE
I have arthritis in both knees and when I talk it is with a wheeze
My pulse is week and my blood is thin; but I am awfully well for the shape i'm in.
My teeth will eventually all have to come out and my diet I hate to talk about,
I am over weight and cant fit into my clothes anymore; but I am awfully well for the shape I am in.
I think my liver is out of whack and a terrible pain in my back,
my hearing is poor, my sight is dim, most everything seems to be out of time,
but I am awfully well for the shape I am in.
I have supports for both my feet or I would not be able to get out on the street
Sleeplessness I have, night after night and in the morning I'm such a sight
My memory is fading, my head is in a spin I am practically living on aspirin, but I am awfully well for the shape I am in.
The moral of the tale unfolds that for you and me, who are growing old, it is better to say I am fine with a grin than to let them know the shape we are in!

A LITTLE MORE OR LESS.............
A little more hope and a little less crying would make it a happier place
A little more faith and a little less worrying applied to our daily affairs
A little more poise and a little less hurrying and time for our thoughts and prayers
A little more joy in doing our daily duties and a little less grumbling
A little more song would open our eyes to new truths and new beauties would help us to struggle along
A little less take and a little more giving a bit of old Christian creed
the courage to try a new way of living - thats just what we all seem to need!
Mixture
Often the road will be rugged and the hills unreachable,
but always remember the hills ahead are never as steep as they may seem
with faith in your heart - start the upward climb
and before you know it you will reach your dream
The Lord made all living creatures all alike
look upon the faces of children without number
that they may face the wind and the sun and walk the good road
Teach us love, compassion, honor
that we may heal the earth and each other
The age of woman
In her infancy she needs love and care
In her childhood she wants fun
In her twenties she wants romance
In her thirties she wants admiration
In her forties she wants sympathy
In her fifties she wants cash!
Eat right - stay fit - die anyway!
Age is not important - unless you are a cheese. (do I detect some humor here?) LOL

Asthore Evangeliine (Cottington) Webb
Born in1922 in Johannesburg, what a lady, some looker when she was young. Met my father, Martin Vorster, during the war in Durban, where he worked on the boats. They married on the 16.12.1944. My eldest brother born in 1946, Richard Edwin. Then Leslie John in 1951, then me in 1958. Sadly my father passed away in 1970 after a short illness. Asthore re-married in 1975, Steve Nel. His wife had also passed away and he had three children from their marriage, though we were never really that close to each other, Mum and Dad were our connecting factors. She never really worked, as when my brother was born it was agreed that she would be a housewife. Over the years she read a great deal, drew, and at times wrote many anecdotes. She entertained us and her grandchildren to no end - sadly Mum passed away in October 2006 - how I miss her. Not a day goes by that she is not on my mind. Therefore I write this blog to capture a few of her many ramblings on paper, here is another (though I cannot be sure if this is her own or not).
Friendship is a golden chain, that links friends so dear
Like a rare and precious jewel its treasured more each year
It is clasped together firmly with love that is deep and true
It is rich with happy memories and of fond recollections too
Time cant destroy its beauty for as long as memory lives
Years cant erase the pleasure that joy of friendship gives
For friendship is an ageless gift that cant be bought or sold
To have an understanding friend is worth far more than gold
The golden chain of friendship is strong and a blessed tie
Brining a hundred years of pleasure and joy
Binding kindred hearts together as the years go by
